Description
These fragments are of refined white earthenware with "Opaque de Sarreguemines" recovered on the surface of the site of a late 19th century household near El Azucar, Santa Elena Province, Ecuador. The maker's mark identified these fragments as made by Sarreguemines in Lorraine, France. This mark was "Used approx. from 1875 until 1900. Lorraine coat-of-arms under a mural crown, 'OPAQUE DE SARREGUEMINES' addition" Also, see fragment from San Cristóbal Island (Galapagos Islands) survey by Peter Stahl.
